Jacob Leese, Rosalia Vallejo (either a sister or daughter of General Mariano Vallejo) and their children. Their daughter
Rosalie is probably the girl at far left, and was the first non-native child born (April 15, 1838) in Yerba Buena. In 1838
he took possession of the land grant that covered 9,500 acres and contained three separate valleys. One of them, Canada de
Guadalupe, now contains the city of Brisbane.
