2 are happy to know even that much. D. Muir's letter was returned after having been in the San Francisco Office 30 days
then later my letter mothers was return -ed from the dead letter Office. you can guess we were all very anxious. but I am
in hope's that we shall all hear that he is well ere long. Maggie I arranged that I should write now. and as soon as she finds
out the contents of Mother's letter she will write so that you will hear the news a soon as possible. There was quite a pic-nic
on the fourth in a grove near Date's Mills there four or five Sabbath schools besides a great number of others. the assembly
was addressed by Mr Whitman Lawyer. Co illegible from Portage there were two or three others on the stage besides. Maggie
John were there David Hattie with their children Mary Annie JoAnna also David Myself with the children so you see we were
all there except you John. 3 but you were not forgotten. how did you enjoy yourself when were you on that day. We were
over at Mothers the week before the fourth Annie Joanna happened to be home from their school's and what do you think mother
had a currant loaf made to celebrate your birthday. a small thing 'a currant loaf' but it is the loving remembrance. it happened
to be two days before your birthday but she thought if she waited till Monday there would have been no one there to eat it
but Father and herself the girls being away at their schools she seemed glad to think we were there to eat a piece of your
loaf. Twenty five. Dan - we are apt to think there must be a great many responsibilities resting on the shoulders of a man
of Twenty-five yet I suppose you feel as light hearted as you were at fifteen may God bless you Dan - make you a blessing
to those arround you may your year's be many happy David has had a very busy summer so far he has got a nice little barn built
in margin: I feel ashamed to send you this awful scrawly letter Dan, but I was all tired out and could barely write at all.
it is better than nothing.
