Description:
Originally planned as "Brothers in Peace," the directory listed a network of organizations within the US and overseas that are "ecumenical Christian groups with a concern for service on one hand, and liberation on the other--and to encourage the formation of more." The publication was edited by Emily Waymouth, wife of John Pairman Brown. Some conservative church members took issue with the directory and the Free Church. "Freedom of speech is one thing, but freedom to plan and organize revolution for the overthrow of the United States government is quite another. It is absurd that these organizations are legally permitted to exist." wrote Elizabeth H. Osh in Prayer and Bibles vs. The Liberated Church, The Christian Challenge, VII (8), September 1969, 5.Publisher:
