wrote you on the 12th inst. regarding certain corrections in Our National Parks which seemed advisable for accuracy. Yours
very truly, illegible 444 July 31, 1909. John Muir, Esq., Martinez, Cal. Dear Mr. Muir: The enclosed check for
36,39 is in payment for your proportion of the material in the volume In American Fields and Forests about which we recently
wrote you. we are paying you at the same rate (15 ) which we do on your National Parks for the material we used. The Reading
Circle edition about which we wrote you, and which has been folly arranged for, has not yet been delivered, and so will not
appear until our next semi-annual accounting six months hence. We are hoping to hear from you in a few days in reply to the
