Los Angeles, Cal. April 10th 1903. Dear Muir: That is a good man But make it before the long trip. I meet the President
at the Grand Canon May 6th, and will be through with him in three or four days. If the Warner's Ranch business is already
out of the way, as I hope it will be, I shall be as near free as I can ever expect, and I surely hope you won't think of risking
your life and morals in the effete East, or still more hopeless monarchies, without fortifying yourself first by a day or
two in this stronghold of democracy. It is impossible for me to get North at present, for these duties are accepted and must
