119 ((Confidential Martinez Sep. 15, 1913. Dear Johnson I hope to get more California help soon. Have just discovered
that both Col P. have carefully concealed all our circulars from California not even sending copies to our Sierra Club members,
fearing I suppose the S. F. press. damage to their business professions. This is natural perhaps reasonable enough, Mr C's
employer is or has been the citys leading lawyer in H. H. affairs, Mrs C. is Pres. of the Alameda Co. Womens Club, of course
keeps quiet. Some of our best Washington friends are kept mum for the sake of family official bread. of course I'll do what
I can without open assistance of our club members who may be dimly on our side Ever faithfully John Muir
