Rough draft of letter, in note-book . NOV. 17, 02. (1) Dear Mr. Hughes: Many thanks for your kind letter of the 14th
ult.f and the package of photographs. That of the chipmunk Is a gem, the only life-size photo of this blessed little beast
I have ever seen. That of myself from your own negative my wife and daughters say la capital, and so it seems to me. It seems
surprising that yon have been able to get so fine and telling an effect from so small a negative. The copy of myself from
the new negative is quite satisfactory, and I enclose 6.00, postal order, for a doz. copies and the negative, which any time
at your convenience I wish you would hand to Mr. McConlagh, as I don't know his address. I thank you also for your kind article
in the Mail. You should describe some of your trips in the mountains. I feel sure they would be interesting, for this article
shows yon can write, and with your fine photos you could give first-rate illustrations. Thanking you again, and realizing
the depths of my indebtedness, I am, Sincerely yours, J. M.03098
