A very disagreeable day raining and freezing, making the walks very dangerous for Pedestrains. War news good. Threatened [rupture]
in the Rebel government. Gold down to 20 1/3. feel quite unwell. Have a very severe headache. No news from home nor from any
[illegible] one. At work as usual in the Office. Pay rolls received. in the afteroon wrote to my old friend and school mate
Miss Libbie E. Hedges. and also to my little friend in Rochester Thomas Cornell. Nothing of any importance today.
