A calm and beautiful day. Nature seems reposing. Rest for all the day. War news meagre but encouraging in the forenoon heard
a Sermon by Rev. W. H [illegible] in the House of Representatives, the President and Cabinet and a large majority of both
Houses of Congress were present, t'was a very elegant and timely discourse on the condition of our country. in the afternoon
visited my brother Johnathan in Mt. Pleasant Hospital. found him well. In the evening [had] Dr. Channing again, then in company
with a friend [illegible]. Evening service at the Church of the Ascention. Sermon from the [tent] "For all our [conversations]
is of Heaven." After church returned home and wrote a letter to my Judith. have enjoyed this Sabbath much. feeling very well.
