[written above date] Stanton General Hospital Washington D.C. A fine day but rather chilly War news good. Race up the Rappahannock to Fredericksburgh capturing several tons of [illegible] and destroying as much rebel property. also good news from Gen. Sheridan. Printing Envelopes from Dr. Channing and some paper for the Surg. in charge. no news from my loved ones or from friends.- Wroteletter to N.F. Jones Alexandria Va. and to J. Ranson Bishop. In the Evening received letter from (3) Mrs. E. Grey of Rocheste. Feel very well but one win for my best friends [illegible]. ------------------------------ Saturday, March 11. A fine day but rather chilly. War news good, raid up Rappahannock to Fredericksburg, capturing several tons of tobacco and destroying much rebel property, also good news from Genl. Sheridan. Printing envelopes for Dr. Channing and some paper for the surg. in charge, no news from my loved one or from home. Wrote letter to N.F. Jones, Alexandria Va and to J.Ransen Bishop. In the evening received letter from Mrs. E. Grey of Rochester, feel very well but anxious for my best friend’s sake.
