Another very warm day. Thermometer nearly 90 degrees above zero. This day has been [set forth] as a universal [illegible] first-day. No business being [transacted]. In the evening wrote letter to Judith none received from any service. 35 men discharged. Received a commission as 2nd [lieutenant] from Gov. [illegible]. ----------------------------- Thursday, June 1. Another very warm day, thermometer nearly 90 degrees above zero. This day has been set forth as a universal fast day, no business being transacted. In the evening wrote letter to Judith, none received from any source, 35 men discharged.
