A beautiful warm day. early in the morning started out to search a good place to [illegible] the service of the army of the [illegible] at nine A.M. the column started May. Gen. Meade at the head. after him [illegible] Gen. Merrit [illegible] cavalry corps. Then Gen. [illegible]. Then 15,000 cavalry. next appeared the Pro. Martiel and his Bridgade with all their affordices. next the 9th army corps and one Div. of the 19th. Next appeard the 5th corps with the [illegible]. and artillary after this the [illegible] 2nd corps. [illegible] by Gen. [illegible]. After the 4th Division had passed my Division and [illegible] appeared only 75 men left of the 1900 who marched through the [illegible] 3 years ago. I joined with [illegible] was greeted by old comrades. all happy to return home, all hard to [illegible] to the North where no troops [illegible] [illegible] 100,000 men. ------------------------------- Tuesday, May 23. A beautiful warm day. Early in the morning started out to secure a good place to witness the review of the Army of the Potomac. At nine A.M. the columns started, Maj. Gen. Meade at the head, after him in front Genl Merritt commdg Cavalry Corps, then Genl Custer, then 15,000 Cavalry. Next appeared the Pro. Martial and his brigade, next the Engineer Brigade with all their officers. Next the 9th Army Corps and one div. of the 19th , next appeared the 5th Corps with its musicians and artillery, after this the gallant 2nd Corps comded by Genl Humphreys. After the 1st division had passed my division and regt officers and only 75 men left of the 1200 who marched through this city three years ago. I joined in the regt. was greeted by old comrades, all happy soon to return home. All hail to the noble heroes. Total no. Troops reviewed nearly 100,000 men.
