78 Martinez May 10, 1902 My dear Johnson I'll not overpass the limit you set for the canon article though the subject
is of a kind size not easily comprised. I'll do my best however to make a clear sketch. No doubt it will be miserably lean
scrawny no matter how hard I try. I could write a fan? sized book from the notes I've already collected easier than this gnarly
article, Perhaps I may some day. Anyhow Ive enjoyed the study of that grand river its basin. Ever yours John Muir
