Description:
EARL ANTHONY, 1938-2001. Considered by many to be the greatest bowler of all time, Earl Anthony won 41 PBA titles, 10 major
bowling championships, 6 national PBA titles, 2 tournament of champions titles, and 2 ABC masters titles during his career.
After he retired from the sport, Earl Anthony still had bowling in his blood. In 1980, he purchased a bowling alley from
the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge. Renamed Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl, he arranged to have ESPN cover a yearly bowling tournament
from 1984 to 1992, the only nationally televised event in Dublin's history. After moving to Oregon in 1988, Earl returned
to Dublin from time to time to host fund-raisers and charitable events for local causes. He died in 2001. (Courtesy Ted Hoffman.)
