HOUGHTON MIFFLIN COMPANY 4 PARK STREET BOSTON August 31, 1914. Dear Mr. Muir; We enclose herewith our Educational copyright
statement to August first, together with our check for 15, 52 to balance the account. We think that you will be gratified
to notice that the edition of Stickeen which we are selling to schools is beginning to attain some little success, but the
best part of it is that these sales continue to schools for a long time and while the return on such an edition is small,
at one time, the aggregate is very considerable. The sales for the trade edition also show continued activity and we are
remitting our check for 120.11, which represents the royalties now due on them, while the balance of 130.00 will be due, in
accordance with the terms of our contract, in January first, 1915. Trusting that you will be gratified with these statements,
we are Yours very truly, Houghton Mifflin Company. illegible JDP/O Mr. John Muir.05833
