First draft of letter, in note-book Martinez, Feb. 28. '05. Hon. Miguel Setodillo, Capitol. Sacramento. Dear Mr. Estudillo:
How that the losemite bill has at last passed the Senate. I must again thank and congratulate you on the part you nave so
ably played in bringing this work to a triumphant consummation. Very few appreciate the importance and far-reaching influence
of the bill. It will be preserved in history and your name with it, long after a thousand others, noisily debated and at present
seemingly more important, have been forgotten like dreams. The great xosemite park, now heart-whole and complete with its
snowy mountains and songful rivers, its score or more of glaciers, magnificent groves and forests, cliffs, waterfalls, lakes
and lawns, is in many of its features unrivalled in the world. It is not yet half known; from age to age its fame will grow,
and that your name is associated with it is something of which you may well be proud. Thanking you again and congratulating
you, I am, with best wishes, LJohn Muir
