Martinez. Cal. Apr. 30, 1899 Prof. C. H. Merriam Washington, D.C My deer Sir; The way now seems clear for the Alaska
trip, and in accordance with Mr. Harriman's kind invitation I'll hope to join his party at Seattle about the end of next month.
As soon as the day of sailing is fixed please let me know it. To this trip I look forward with much pleasure not only for
