Pacific Grove, Calif. Jan. 16- 1909 Dear brother John- Yesterday your package with letters and photo. was received,
and I thank you for the privilege of seeing the good picture of our cousin and of reading Maggie's letter. It is a fine garden
picture. She looks so pleased and and comfortable with her knitting and there are so many pretty things growing about her
then she has her Maggie to take care of her. Maggie I think must be about the same age as Joanna. My last letter to them was
written last Decr. David takes the Scottish American and so we had seen by that paper of the building on Knock-in-hair, but
did not know of its being so terribly ugly . I remember well the hill its self. I have just one other correspondent in Scotland
and that is Mrs Mcdougald, David's sister, who has had her home in Edinburgh all of her married life, she must be 85 or 86
years old now. Mrs Foster a younger sister will be 83 I think is? in her 84th year, and so the years pass and leave their
mark. Affectionately Sarah. in margin: I had a letter from Helen some days ago. she feels well and happy. and feels
satisfied that she is steadily growing younger. 04407
