June 8 14 Dear Mr. Muir. Your second letter reached me this morning. I have been considering very earnestly the thoughtful
invitation extended by you and Wanda, and wished to come to a decision before answering your letter. It seems to me that it
will be wisest in every way for me to go on the outing. I know that there will be much to cause me pain, but dear Mr. Muir,
that is true of everything just now. Edward and I were companions in so much and shared so many thoughts and experiences that
my trivial thing brings him to mind now. It is comparatively easy to make the weary lonely pilgrimage with a brave front.
The hard part is to recover the inner sense that the pilgrimage is worth while - is anything but a weary waiting for that
