Title:

Great Britain, Scotland, Edinburgh: Hollyrood Palace looking thro [through] one of the main gates toward the entrance and the northwest tower beyond which are the ruins of the chapel. The tower and church were the only part of the palace and abbey to escape in the burning of 1544 during the English invasion. this palace was the principal residence of Mary and her son James VI [6th] until the time he ascended the English throne, and her rooms were in this tower. the general style of the palace is French of the time of Louis XIV [14th]. The main entrance is surmounted by the royal arms of Scotland, above which is a small octagonal tower topped by an imperial crown.
