Cuba - Province of Matanzas - Varadero Beach: Varadero Beach is the loveliest seaside resort in the Island. It lies on the
north coast of Cuba on the Gulf of Mexico about 90 miles east of Havana, and in spite of its many years of resort activities
Varadero retains the natural charm and beauty of its miles of curving beach. The blue-green of the water of the Gulf, so
pale and clear at the shore and so deep in color where it meets the sky on the distant horizon, the whiteness of its sands
and the dark green of its fringing pines are free of the invasion of shop-lined boardwalks and such things which so often
turn a place like this into a tumult. As the summer heat becomes more intense, a family group will bring a colorful cabana
and set it up on the shore, where except for the waters of the Gulf, one might think it an Arab tent on desert sand. The
beach is miles long and no matter how many vacationers or day visitors come to swell the year-around population, there are
never great crowds in any one place either in the water or on the sand.
