Autobiography & Reminiscence of Morris Shloss, San Francisco, 1904. The Society of California Pioneers
Morris Shloss was born in Russian Poland in 1828. He left home in 1842 for Birmingham, England and after five years moved
to New York. From New York her took passage on the ship "Elizabeth Ellen" on February 16th, 1849 and arrived in San Francisco
on September 25th. Mr. Shloss was engaged in various commercial endeavors in San Francisco and Shasta County, all of which
aimed to fill the needs of miners. Mr. Shloss was a member of the San Francisco Vigilance Committee
