L DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR, GENERAL LAND OFFICE, WASHINGTON, D. C., JANUARY 25, 1907. illegible Mr. James Donohue,
Adamana. Arizona. Sir: Mr. John Muir, of Martinez, California, has referred me to you, as one who knows about the location
of the Petrified Forest remains northeast and north of Adamana. This office has received requests to add these remains to
the Petrified Forest National Monument created last month by proclamation of the President, copy herewith. It is desired that
the least amount of land necessary to include these petrified remains be segregated, and it is not necessary that these tracts
shall be contiguous. Will you please indicate upon the en closed blue-print the sections and parts of sections which in your
judgment should be reserved, keeping in mind that it is desired to reserve no land that is unoccupied by petrefactions. I
will be greatly obliged for this information. I have written Mr. Stevens and Mr. Hana of Adamana, a request to the same effect.
Very truly yours, illegible Chief of Drafting Division. 06230
