Description:
Color slide of a photograph showing male and female spectators on the balcony of a house in Mission Viejo, California during
the Cycling Road Race of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. The photograph shows about 15 people standing at the rail of the balcony
facing away from the house; some are waving and smiling at the camera, one man is pointing at something, some are conversing
with one another, others may be watching the event below. The spectators are dressed in shorts, some of the men are shirtless,
reflecting a hot summer day in Southern California. On the right side of the balcony, there is a banner hanging from the rail;
the portion that can be seen in the photograph shows the Olympic symbol of five interlacing rings and reads, "Welcome Olympiad..."
An American flag hangs on a pole that is mounted between two brown, dome-shaped awnings. At the top of the slide is a label
with "84-009, Frame 044" typed on it. At the bottom of the slide is written "camjl 232" in pencil and, in typescript, "33,
Jul84H14."
