reply to my letter sending him Photos of Lejon? big oak flowers Martinez, July 29, 1897 My dear Mr Lukens. I thank you
for the photographs of the oaks interesting flowers with big leaves for your measurments which disposes of the size question
of the Lejon? oaks. I expect to leave for the North on the 3d or 4th of next month I hope to get directions for reaaching
those 400 or 400 feet Douglas spruces ere I start which I will if you reply by return mail. I would be delighted to have
you along but I dont believe the trip would be a good one for you. Sargent is a tremendous tracker always in a hurry night
day. Sometime you I will have a good excursion together travel as we like. With love to Lottie I am every Yours truly
