GEO. HANSEN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT 2705 HEARST AVENUE, BERKELEY, CAL. ADVISORY ARCHITECT TO PARK COMMSSIONS, MUNICIPALITIES
AND CEMETERY ASSOCIATIONS Aug. 7th., 1905. Friend, We keep no diary, but it would be wicked to let a day of such perfect
blessings pass by without recording - in the minds of friends - their magnitude and our appreciation. Early in the morning
Prof. Bailey called (who is now lecturing at the summer-school) and shook the hand that was not so bony when he pressed it
last years ago. I told him: The like of I in riches and in wealth, you shall seek in vain. Those sugar-laden vessels that
sail in there, poor Sprockets thinks they are his, whereas he only looks after them, as they are mine. What I have not got,
I have friends to ask from. And wouldst thou know what I ask of you this day? ---And he said: Speak . --- And I responded:
It is your Encyclopaedia that I need, needed long since, and I have not pay for it - you shall have it, the new edition that
is now in preparation . - And I said I take it . -- And like Jacob, I illegible hold him with my mind, and he blessed me
as Israel ere? he departed. And as the Lord of Host was going to punish me for my lack of Faith, and to make my lips a liar,
He send a man the afternoon of the same day, and said man took me over to Oakland (the first drive in more than all the moons
of one season) to have me inspect his place. - And now that I have returned to the bosom of our home, I cried like a child
that he, He had added such perfect gift from on high to me so low. Verily, Thy gentleness has made me great . And I was not
disappointed that not every one of the Sunday-goers took a look at me till I turned the corner. And in the late of the evening
my pair of hawks returned, once again, to circle a halo over our abode. I said to my soul: They are from Alhambra Valley,
and Mrs Muir is well. Love from illegible 03601
