01951 1 Berkeley. Feb. 27. '90 John Muir: Dear Sir, With the endorsement of Mr. Wm Keith I have found courage to write
you to grant a great favor to the women of Sorosis a S. F. Branch of New York Sorosis founded by Jennie June and the Cary
sisters twenty-eight years ago. Literature, art, science, Philanthropy and whatever tends to broaden and uplift is for our
consideration. As one of the organizers of the Club in San Francisco, I am desirous to interest the members in the development
of the State of Cal. 01951 2 to do this they must have knowledge of its resources, its potentiality. Our Redwood forests
have seemed to me worthy of first presentation. I wish to give such flavor of romance and poetry to such presentation as
to capture the mind and will of an audience. You can help me by giving your presence and a ten minute talk (or longer) on
this beautiful characteristic tree. The time 3rd Monday in March from 2 to 4. P. M. at Mrs. Dr. Younger 1414 California St.
