First draft of letter,in note-book Bliss Perry January,1903 Dear Mr.Perry: I'm afraid I'll not be able to prepare
an article for the July Atlantic. I want to start on a long trip with Sargent next May, and it will probably be as much or
more than I can do to get the work already undertaken off my hands by that time; for alas my pen is slow, slow as a glacier.
If like Scott or Lockhart or Kit North I could keep ms.sheets flying like ripe leaves in a gale, be assured, dear Editor,
the little article you want would be on wing to you this very day. Anyhow, I'll try to find time for something or other, though
of course you will not count on me. Sincerely yours, John Muir
