December 29, 1890. Mr. John Muir, Martinez, Gal. Dear Mr. Muir, Thank you very much for the sketches of the Kings River
Yosemite. They will be of use to us in the illustration of your article. Possibly we may redraw some of them. I have asked
Robinson to consult with you in regard to his sketches. I quite agree with you as to the desirability of showing the floor
of the valley. I do not know whether I have told you heretofore that Colonel Armstrong of Cloverdale has appointed me one
of the trustees of his Red Wood Park of six hundred acres which he has just set apart for public use. The other trustees are
Shinn, Luther, Burbank of Santa Rosa, E. J. Wickson of the Pacific Rural Press and of the University of California, and the
fifth is to be named when the Act is obtained from the Assembly. Coming after my newspaper experience in California this is
