met in those early days as well as so much that was wonderful to us in the new country. The birds were so different from those
we knew in Scotland and the wild flowers so fine and how we wandered about and enjoyed them. Do you remember Robert Christie?
he loved the flowers and we planted seeds in our early garden that he brought from Scotland. He went to New York and was engaged
3 in taking care of a gentleman's grounds there. We heard this of him by James Muir. In all the time since we have heard
nothing of him until a short time since Miss Foster sent me a paper with a notice of the fiftieth anniversary of his marriage
also something of his life. He was still in New York. but nearly all of the old neighbors are dead. I still hear from Miss
Saunderson. her last letter was from Virginia she was with her youngest daughter whose home is there. She was well and thinking
of visiting her
