No. 90 LaSalle St Chicago Feby? 11th 1878 Mr. John Muir, San Francisco, Cal. My dear Sir: I want to thank you for the pleasure
your Humming Bird of the California Waterfalls in Scribner has given me. We have read and re-read it at home with increasing
pleasure and can abound with it music poetry and artistic expression. You are one of the underlined: true poets, I illegible
there were more such in our world? . In this busy? mate- sail age we are too often blind and deaf to the sights and sounds
of nature. The harmonies seem to be recognized by the few Have you not written some books or other sketches to which you
could refer me? We should all be glad to read them. it is not everyday one finds such pure delight in literature. I gained
