First draft of letter, in note-book 59 (59) Martinez. Oct. 20, '00 . Mr. Charles Keeler My dear Charlie: I am glad
to hear that Mrs. Keeler is growing so much better, and look forward with great pleasure to a visit from you. Come as soon
as you can. I heartily congratulate you on your new book. It is a most handsome vol ume , and will, no doubt, be welcomed
by the thousands who are beginning to know you. Good luck to it I had a pleasant Summer ramble with Dr. Merriam and his sister
and brother, whom you know. Have just finished another Atlantic article, Fountains and Streams, which has taken an unconscionable
time to write. Wish I had your facility. With kind regards to Mrs. Keeler, I am, Ever yours, J. M. 02890
