Martinez, Feb. 24, 1897. My dear Prof Sargent. Your report is the most glorious reading I have enjoyed for many a day
I'm watching eagerly the news from Washington It is presented in capital shape I can't see how the President can fail to see
its importance seize this last grand chance to bless the world himself. This should go far to make him happy again after the
failure of his favorite Arbitration Treaty. When the right time comes I'll do all I can in the way you indicate. Heaven bless
