EDITORIAL-DEEPARTMENT THE CENTURY-MAGAZINE UNION-SQUARE-NEW-YORK R. W. GILDER, EDITOR. R. U. JOHNSON, ASSOCIATE EDITOR.
C. C. BUEL, ASSISTANT EDITOR. June 10th, 1895. My dear Muir:- The inclosed letter would seem to indicate that the report
in the California newspaper which you sent to me, about legislation forbidding the cutting of trees, etc., in Yosemite was
not accurate. Certainly no such bill is among the measures which have been sent to me by the Secretary of State. Had there
been any such bill I was intending, as we had criticised the Yosemite management, to take notice of the improved state of
affairs. I hope you are very well. Sargent asked me to come last week to see his rhododendrons and azaleas, and this forcibly
reminded me of our visit to New England's literary shrines* which I shall always remember, with great pleasure. IllegibleJohn
