Original in possession of Mr. Elmer E. Gilmore, Tyrone, New Mexico Martinez, California, February 12, 1909. Dear Mr. Gilmore:
Your letter of January 22 brings back the Auld lang syne of Madison days. Yes, I'm the same John Muir who taught school in
the log house and whose wooden clock lit the fire, etc. I think your house was on the hill above the schoolhouse. The sketch
of the schoolhouse was lost. Write and tell me all you can of my old scholars. Faithfully yours, John Muir.
