Transcription:
letterhead San Francisco, April 25th, 1892 John Muir Esqr. Dir Sir I beg to be excused for not keeping my appointment
yesterday. From the wet streets, the sky overcast with threatening clouds and the wind blowing from the south west, prognosticating
a rainy day, I staid home, and can assure of having felt very sorry indeed, when at about 9 o clock the rising sun by his
warm rays dispersed the clouds as if by enchantment, and made of yesterday a day inviting pleasant excursions. But as delayed
pleasure is not an abandoned one, my wife and myself will have the consolation of surprising our Alhambra friends on one of
the Sundays in the next future. With our best respects to your ladies and yourself. I remain respectfully yours C. Bielawski
