Letters found unopened San Francisco, May 5th, 1903. Prof. A. Karpinsky, Director Geological Survey, St. Petersburg,
Russia. Dear Sir:- I beg leave to present my friend, Prof. John Muir, L.L.D. - a scientist of high distinction. He visits
Russia to study the general geology and particularly the glacial geology of Eastern Europe and Siberia. I bespeak for professor
Muir the warm and generous courtesy which myself and my countrymen received at your hands during the memorable 7th session
of the International Geological Congress. Bearing this in kind remembrance, and with sentiments of the highest esteem, I
remain Respectfully, Marden Manson 06209
