Martinez, Jan. 25, 1910 . My dear. Marian: I was in the City all last week, getting notes written out. Was anxious to
see you, but recollecting how busy you were became conscience-smitten and asked Mr. Colby to telephone I would stay away.
I mean to start for Los Angeles and Pasadena and the desert tomorrow, leaving S.F. at 8 P.M. by the Coast road. I have just
got word that Col. Sellers, my dear friend, is very ill, and wants to see me. Oh this dust-to-dust death, what sore benumbing
sorrow and heart-ache it brings, though so natural and foundationally right and good With love and sympathy, Ever yours,
JOHN MUIR 04690
