letterhead Brisbane August 22 illegible 1904 Dear friend Many thanks for the copy of your delightful book The Mountains
of California I am more pleased with it than I can express, and feel how glad I should have been to have been your companion
on one of your mountain journeys, but it would not have suited me for I could not have stood the cold of some parts, the winters
here are quite enough for me. I hope that you may make another visit to this part of the world we shall all be glad to see
