12 Mar 1867 Ind' Tuesday 12th Dear mother I am still keeping well though still confined mostly to bed I do not suffer
pain and am every way more comfortable than could be expected my friends are kind beyond my ability to write I spend my
time in thinking sleeping and in illegible - hearing? my friends 68 my appetite is returning and in a few weeks I hope
to be illegible through the injured eye and it is not yet dis- figured almost every day visit illegible my employers They
have built a new shop and have given me full charge of it so I will not have to work so hard Kindest love to all J. Muir
