Martinez, June 22, 1910- Dear Mrs Hooker Marian My dearest best loved sister died this afternoon - - - All her children
were with her Her last days were in a sleep nigh to death without sign of a moment of consciousness. Glad I was with her to
cheer and soothe and comfort while yet she knew me fondly clung to me. And we all rejoice she is at rest in the Better Land
free from pain and care and frail body weakness after a long hard yet blessed life. but oh friends - the last love glance
- last quivering embrace on the edge of the dark. You know for you are acquainted with death grip. Affectionately, John
Muir
