March 10th, 1909. John Muir, Esq., Martinez, Cal. Dear Mr. Muir:- Almost a year has rolled around since we last wrote
to you urging you to visit Hawaii as a guest of our Committee. By a recent Coast paper, just to hand, I note that Mr. John
Burroughs is about to visit California and the West and that the two of you are planning to do some sight seeing together.
Can you not induce your friend to accompany you on a trip to our beautiful Islands? You will have a pleasant trip down, and
it is needless to assure you that you will receive a very warm reception upon your arrival in Hawaii. Many of our people have
met you at different times and they will vie with each other in providing for your entertainment. Very truly yours, illegible
