letterhead Sitka Alaska, December 12/81. My dear Mr. Muir We were delighted to hear of your safe return home on the Corwin
and cordially wish you and your dear wife joy. The Rush called in here on her way down I learned of your safety departure
for San Francisco from the officers on board. We have read your letters in the Bulletin with great interest in which we were
joined by others of your friends here, among them good Doctor Du Laney? who very lately died at his home in Virginia where
he had just arrived after a long weary trip from Sitka we miss him very much. Col Ball family are also at their old home in
