letterhead April 20, 1898 Dear Sir: It gives me pleasure to convey to you the information that at the last meeting of
the Appalachian Mountain Club you were elected to Corresponding membership in the club, formal note of which is enclosed For
a number of years your papers and volumes, some of them at least have been in our library, the Glacier which bears your name
is the most impairing? of our photographic treasures, so that we have not been unfamiliar with your work and you have been
