Title:
Aerial view of the new Don Pedro Dam with old dam submerged, May 22, 1971.
Creator:
Dias, Manuel, 1918-2005
Subject:
Dams -- California
Reservoirs -- California
Description:
The old Don Pedro dam is no longer visible as the expansive waters of the new reservoir continue to rise. In the photograph
much of the eventual 159 mile shoreline can be seen. The new Don Pedro is shown with the upper portion of its back side still
visible. The road across the top divides the face of the dam from its rear with the growing water storage area. Note the
three spillways visible on the lower left that will help regulate future excessive water in years of heavy rainfall and large
snowmelts.
