RBM-AMF DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY TOPOGRAPHIC BRANCH Sacramento, California, September
3, 1907. Mr. John Muir, Martinez, California. My dear Mr. Muir: In reply to your letter of September 2d, I am very
glad indeed to get your letter, and shall be more than glad to see you if you can spare the time to see what this Irrigation
Congress is doing. We have our office in the same place in the post office building, but I am sorry to say that we have no
home in Sacramento now to ask you to visit. Mrs. Marshall has been spending the summer near Tahoe and has been down for a
day or two to visit me as I shall be here this week. Come along and there will be some place and some body only too glad
to take care of John Muir, no matter where nor when he comes. Just come to the office and we will find a place for you.
With sincerest regards, Yours very truly, N. M. Marshall 03926
