Title:

Home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard O'Neill at 2611 17th [Seventeenth] Street, South West, corner of York Street, the first Sunday morning after the earthquake and fire of April 18, 1906. Catholic Mass is being celebrated on front porch and stairs as all churches had either been destroyed or condemned. The celebrant is Father Patric Muligan, afterward secretary to Archbishop Reardon and pastor of St. Joseph's Parish at 10th and Howard Streets. Photo was taken from Franklin Square directly across 17th street from the O'Neill home by John J. Baumgartner, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Baumgartner were living in the home at that time. York Street no longer runs thru to 17th Street. Site is now occupied by Municipal Bus and Street Car storage yard.
