Pan American Day was first celebrated on April 14, 1931 to commemorate the 1890 establishment of the Union of American Republics,
later called the Pan American Union. This body subsequently evolved into the Organization of American States. Pan American
Day is an international holiday that celebrates the cultures of North and South American nations and stresses inter-American
goodwill
