The Valencia Hotel. This building, a flimsy 4-story wooden affair, collapsed. The street sank some six feet. Owing to the fact that it and the building and those on the opposite side were built over the bed of an old subterranean stream. The fourth story rests on street level. Fire later consumed all the buildings in sight.
