California, Southern District. Land case 269 SD, page 81; land case map B-1311 (Bancroft Library)."8 L.D.K."Shows drainage,
San Gorgonio Valley, etc.Relief shown pictorially and by hachures.4362 S22664The inscription on this diseño was referred to
the National Archives by a Mr. Benson, of Loveland, Colorado (see his letter in Bancroft Library Files, dated April 28, 1967).
Miss Jane F. Smith, Director, Social and Economics Records Division of the National Archives stated: '. . . while the handwriting
of the note is sharp, its legibility is very poor. However, we do detect two errors in Dr. Tomkins [sic] version of the note
cited in your letter. The name at the botom of the note should read "Arguello," not "Aruello," and the second word from the
end is "resulta", not ["]vuelta["]. We are unable to verify the words "largado" and "volver" in Dr. Tomkins' version. We agree
with Dr. Tomkins as to the remainder of the note. . . . The Nota might then be translated,- "This land is part of a private
holding and the southerly extension is that which should be resolved." Arguello.' JBT 5.3.67
